Fan Zones

We design experiences that work at a mass scale and go further than the event itself, engaging fans and participants before, during and after the event through the use of fan zones.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The fan zones we deliver create areas that motivate and excite audiences, with entertainment and activations designed to interact and communicate with participants and fans alike, creating bespoke experiences for our clients.

Our team create fan zones that provide unique opportunities to engage audiences in an interactive way through activations, enhancing the fan experience whilst increasing atmosphere and dwell time.

Event activations we’ve delivered include:

Adnams Event Activation – We were tasked with delivering a unique rowing challenge in the build up to the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race to drive  PR Adnams as the official beer sponsor of the race at the time.

Taking place in three central locations across London, participants were tasked with racing on bespoke rowing machines to win a years supply of Adnams beer.

Our project teams oversaw the end to end delivery of the activation, with a host and promotional talent sourced by massive to enhance the on the day experience and engage the brand with more people.

The activation opened up the brand to a wider audience than on race day, allowed for more one on one interaction with potential new customers and drove footfall to the fan zones using a 2-for1 voucher.

Our team provides full end-to-end project management and specialise in understanding audiences and designing bespoke fan zone experiences.

Since 2016 we have delivered fan zones for partners of The Boat Races, creating tailored experiences to activate the partners’ sponsorships with the event.

In both Bishop’s Park and Furnivall Gardens, our team has worked with Adnams, Rupert and Buckley, Chapel Down and Marston’s, creating custom fan zones to fit each individual brand.

America’s Cup Fan Zones: “The team at Massive were key to the operational delivery of the America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth. The team recruited and managed a large team of site crew whilst coordinating a number of suppliers, enabling the complicated builds across the site including a large grandstand and main stage”. We worked with Team Origin to deliver the America’s Cup World Series in Portsmouth, managing land-side activities for this major annual event welcoming 80,000 spectators and over 2,000 VIPs each day.

IAAF World Athletics Fan Zone London – “Massive had one shot, under pressure, to deliver a complicated project and they did it outstandingly. It was a pleasure to work with them.”

Our team were tasked with producing the IAAF’s first ever spectator area outside of a stadium, by delivering a fan zone within the Tower of London at the World Championships 2017. We delivered a ground-breaking spectator and VIP experience in an incredibly short period of time – build, live through to de-rig was just five days.
