Patagonia

THE OPPORTUNITY

Running Up For Air is an endurance challenge, involving running up and down a mountain for 3, 6, 12 or 24 hours. In May 2019, the first European edition took place in Chamonix, France, raising awareness that air pollution is a major concern for the health of trail runners and the climate.

Due to COVID -19 restrictions, the event could not be run en masse in 2021 so we had the opportunity to provide Patagonia with solutions to bring people together virtually to complete the challenge.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

From initial strategy workshops, to creation of a bespoke platform; we have project managed and created a virtual space where runners across the whole of Europe can take part in Running Up For Air 2021.

Working with our digital platform provider, we have created an inclusive event platform in 4 different languages, complete with bespoke leader boards, a comprehensive registration and donation process and information on not only the event and Patagonia, but also the 18 different environmental groups who the challenge is raising funds and awareness for – so they can campaign for better air quality across Europe. We launched the event in June 2021 with 800 participants across Europe to take part virtually.
