Crohn’s & Colitis WalkIt

How do you grow participation and build a sense of community for an established event?

THE OPPORTUNITY

Crohn’s and Colitis were struggling to recruit new participants and encourage repeat participants at their series of WalkIt events. They had trouble with their brand awareness at the events due to a lack of branding across the event village so asked us to help them revive the series.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

Massive were invested in the success of our events from the start, they felt like part of the team and helped us improve the quality of our events as well as growing participation and fundraising. Sam Afhim Director of Fundraising From creating branded marquees, to producing WalkIt signage, the whole event was transformed into a ‘sea of purple’.  We have worked with the charity to introduce various initiatives at the event, including ‘walking buddies’, which encourages lone participants to interact with others and share their stories whilst taking on the challenge of the event.  From working with the charity since 2017, we have uplifted the participant experience, delivering a more inclusive and experiential event across eight cities in the UK.  Over the past three years we have grown participant and fundraising numbers with the flagship event in London now seeing over 1,500 participants taking to the streets and turning London purple
