How do you develop new fundraising propositions for a charity on the other side of the World?
Cancer Council NSW has the largest fundraising campaigns portfolio in Australia. It is made up of several large and established events that were declining in income and potentially coming to the end of their life cycle. With most of the portfolio relying on physical or face to face activity, the Covid-19 pandemic meant that CC NSW needed to fast track looking for new and innovative fundraising propositions to future proof income, and rejuvenate the portfolio.
We created an audience segmentation and pen portraits through conducting qualitative interviews with an audience sample in Australia. This insight, combined with our internal and external research allowed us to create a focussed sprint brief.
Using online tools, video diaries, a WhatsApp group, and a schedule of check in calls, we ran an international week-long design sprint. Through a series of virtually facilitated exercises, testing techniques, development and refinement, we produced a long list of 20 fundraising event ideas, with 5 final ideas ready to prototype.
